Paneer do pyaza recipe cooked in mustard oil and mixed with some extra flavors in it. A very tasty paneer dish to enjoy with family and friends during special occasions. This paneer recipe could be enjoyed with plain phulka roti, naan, paratha or plain or fried rice. This is a North Indian soft succulent paneer recipe. Paneer dipped in onion and tomato curry is a must-try recipe for lunch or dinner.

Paneer do pyaza recipe cooked in mustard oil with some extra flavors.

This recipe is basically prepared using a lot of onions followed by the process of mixing and cooking the onions with spices and the recipe ends up with adding up some extra raw onions sauteed in some ghee and poured as a tadka on top of it. The gravy of paneer do pyaza is sweet and tangy with some crunchy feel of the onions. It’s simply delicious.

Short Summary for the recipe Paneer Do Pyaza ~

Heat 1 tablespoon of oil and fry the paneer pieces on both sides equally until turns golden brown in color.

Into the a wok or karahi heat 1/3 cup of mustard oil. Add cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon, Fennel seeds 1/2 teaspoon, mustard seeds 1/4 teaspoon, cloves 4 in number, black cardamom 2, green cardamom 4 in number, cinnamon stick 1 inch, black pepper corns 1/2 teaspoon, bay leaves 3 small, and quickly saute these in mustard oil. Then immediately add onions 2 big size thin sliced into it. Fry the onions until translucent and slightly turns golden brown in co;lor. Then add asafedita 1/2 teaspoon, turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon, dry-red chili ground 1 teaspoon, salt as required, stir to mix and saute few seconds. Now add garlic paste 2 teaspoons and ginger paste 2 teaspoons, mix and saute sometime until the rawness of the garlic dissapears. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder, cumin powder1 teaspoon, coriander powder 2 teaspoons, and saute. Then add 2 medium chopped tomatoes, mix and continue to cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy. Next, whisk yogurt 1/4 cup and add into the spices. Mix it nicely and cook sometime until looks nicely cooked and starts to ooze oil. At this point add 1 cup of water and give it a mix. Add paneer pieces into it, mix up with light hands. Cover and let it cook and simmer in slow flame.

To preapre tadka heat 1 tablespoon of ghee, put cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon, crushed coriander seeds 1/2 teaspoon, dry-red chili 2, green chili 2 and quickly stir and saute. Immediately add some onions cut into cubes and saute until translucent. Pour this tadka into the paneer curry. Sprinkle some fenugreek leaves powdered form on top of it and gently mix.

Step by step method along with the images shown below to prepare paneer do pyaza ~

Then add asafedita 1/2 teaspoon, turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon, dry-red chili ground 1 teaspoon, salt as required, stir to mix and saute few seconds.

Now add garlic paste 2 teaspoons and ginger paste 2 teaspoons, mix and saute sometime until the rawness of the garlic dissapears. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of garam masala powder, cumin powder1 teaspoon, coriander powder 2 teaspoons, and saute.

Then add 2 medium chopped tomatoes, mix and continue to cook until the tomatoes are soft and mushy.

Next, whisk yogurt 1/4 cup and add into the spices.

At this point add 1 cup of water and give it a mix.

Mix it nicely

Add paneer pieces into it, mix up with light hands. Cover and let it cook and simmer in slow flame few minutes.

Onion Tadka ~

To preapre tadka heat 1 tablespoon of ghee, put cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon, crushed coriander seeds 1/2 teaspoon, dry-red chili 2, green chili 2 and quickly stir and saute. Immediately add some onions cut into cubes and saute until translucent. Pour this tadka into the paneer curry. Sprinkle some fenugreek leaves powdered form on top of it and gently mix.

  • 2 Black cardamom
  • 4 Green cardamom
  • 1 inch Cinnamon stick
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black peppercorns
  • 3 small Bay leaves
  • 2 large Onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon Asafedita (Hing)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Dry-red chili ground
  • Salt as required
  • 2 teaspoons Garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons Ginger paste
  • 1 teaspoon Gram masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons Corriander powder
  • 2 medium Tomatoes chopped
  • 1/4 cup Whisked yogurt
  • 1 cup Water

For Tadka ~

  • 1 teaspoon Ghee (clarified butter)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin seeds
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander seeds crushed
  • 2 Dry-red chili
  • 2 Green chili
  • Some onions cut into cubes for tadka
