Directions to prepare Red Velvet Cup Cakes

Preparing the Dry-ingredients:

Into a bowl sieve All-purpose flour 1 and 1/2 cups, baking powder 1 teaspoon, baking soda 1/2 teaspoon, vanilla sugar 3 teaspoons, cocoa powder 2 teaspoons (90% cocoa used) and salt 1/2 teaspoon. Give it a quick mix and keep aside and let’s prepare our wet ingredients.

Preparing the wet ingredients:

To start with the wet ingredients we need the butter and the eggs (2 in number) to be in the room temperature. The butter has to be softened enough to easily mix up with the sugar until turns light and fluffy. So into a large bowl take softened butter 2/3 cup which is one 1 stick of butter (4 oz) and beat using an electric beater to beat it for 1 minute before adding the powdered sugar in it. Then add powdered sugar 3/4 cup gradually into their and beat until the mixture gets smooth and fluffy. The sugar and butter mixture should look smooth and soft to touch.

Now into this butter and sugar mixture add 2 large sized eggs, and 1/2 cup of milk gradually and beat to mix. Add 1 tablespoon of vanilla essence, red food color few drops, white vinegar 1 and 1/2 teaspoons and mix nicely. Then pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and mix to prepare the cup cake batter to prepare red velvet cup cakes.

Mixing up the dry ingredients and the wet ingredients:

Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture and mix using a hand beater nicely. At this point of the cup cake batter gets thicker so add 1/4 cup of milk or as required to adjust the consistency and mix again. Also I have used few more drops of food color to make it darker red in color along with 1 tablespoon of water for easy mixing. Once the batter is ready line up the cup cake liners and also prior to that preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit to get the baking started as soon as you pour the cake batter into the cup cake liners.

Baking:

Once the oven is preheated at 350 degrees Fahrenheit, get ready to pour in the cake batter in to the baking cups. I have used two sized cups to demonstrate the baking time, of the mini cup cake liners and the large sized cup cake liners. Mini sized cup cakes gets baked in just 9-10 minutes. And the larger ones took me exactly 12 minutes to get perfectly baked.

Note: Also one more thing to note down that I have used an ice cream 🍨 scooper to scoop out the cake batter for the larger ones so that they come out even in sizes. For the mini cupcakes I used just a regular spoon🥄 and they didn’t come out equal-sized as I expected, some are big and some are small. At this point t I have added few more drops of food coloring because I needed it be a little darker ted shade color.

Along with the food color add 1 tablespoon of water for easy mixing and it also helps in baking the cake nicer.

The cup cake mixture is ready to use. Keep this aside and now let’s quickly line up the cup cake liners 🙂

Note: Also make sure to preheat the oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit a little before you start lining up in the liners. The oven should be ready to use.

Baking of the cupcakes

To prepare mini cup cakes we need to bake theses in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 9-10 minutes

Fill up liners a little less leaving some space on the top with the help of a spoon because they will puff up and rises once baked. Also pour the same amount of cup cake batter so that they all come out even in sizes.

Look at them. They are puffed and looks gorgeous. Immediately take them out and allow to cool.

For large size cup cakes we need to bake these at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for exactly 12 minutes. I have used an ice cream scooper to scoop these out and lined up in the cup cake liners and they came out perfect with same sized and look amazing 🤩

Shaping up the cupcakes into heart-shaped for decorating

Few of the large cup cakes I have shaped as a heart ♥️ as they looked so cute and lovely for decorating. Shape them up using cookie cutter as they are so soft and fluffy and so much fun to decorate specially during some special occasions like Valentine’s Day or any special day to celebrate. You may top them also with some of your favorite chocolate coating and enjoy.

Press with a cookie cutter on top of the cup cakes and shape them up easily
