To prepare these spicy and tasty kimchi pancake using country-style kimchi we need to chop off the big chunks of kimchi into bite sizes. Then mix these with some sliced onions, chopped spring onions, chopped green chili, some salt and pepper, and sriracha sauce along with some flour and water with a little bit of sugar to it and prepare a thick consistency batter. Then these are being shallow fried in mustard oil for a strong pungent flavor, in the shape of a pancake. These Kimchi pancakes are spicy and tasty and could be enjoyed as a breakfast or as a snack. Ingredients required to prepare Kimchi Pancake. Country-style kimchi panackes ~

  • Country-style Kimchi, fermented and store-bought 2 cups and chopped into bite sizes
  • Onion thinly sliced 1 cup
  • Green chili chopped 1
  • Spring onions chopped 3 to 4 tablespoons
  • Some salt and pepper powder as per taste
  • All-purpose flour 1/2 cup (adjust adding flour as required)
  • Water 3 to 4 tablespoons
  • Sriracha Sauce 1 teaspoon
  • Sugar 1 teaspoon
  • Mustard oil to shallow fry

To prepare Country-style Kimchi pancakes we need fermented kimchi which I have used the store-bought ones. Chop the big chunks of kimchi into bite sizes. Then add thinly sliced onions 1 cup into it. Add 2 teaspoons of mustard oil into a non-stick pan and heat. Pour some batter rigfht in the center of the frying pan and spread the batter in the shape of a pancake using a spatula. Fry in low to medium flame for few minutes on both sides equally until turns slightly crisp and golden brown in color. Enjoy these kimchi pancakes hot as a breakfast or a quick snack.

Step by Step directions to prepare Kimchi Pancake ~

To prepare Country-style Kimchi pancake we need fermented kimchi which I have used the store-bought ones.

Chop the big chunks of kimchi into bite sizes.

Transfer the chopped kimchi into a mixing bowl

Then add thinly sliced onions 1 cup into it.

Add spring onions chopped around 3 to 4 tablespoons.

Sprinkle some salt and pepper as per taste and give these a mix.

Add 1 green chili finely chopped and mix to combine with all the ingredients

Gradually add All-purpose flour around 1/2 a cup. Use flour as required to adjust the consistency of the mixture according to the kimchi used. Give these a mix.

Into it then add 3 to 4 tablespoons of water and sugar 1 teaspoon and mix to prepare a batter easy to scoop out.

To make it little extra spicier add 1 finely chopped green chili and 1 teaspoon of sriracha sauce and mix. Leave the mixture for 5 minutes. Before shallow frying these give the batter a mix.

Let the mixture rest 5 minutes before frying.

Shallow Frying the Kimchi Pancakes ~

Shallow fry these into 2 teaspoons of mustard oil. Fry both sides equally for a few minutes until turns golden brown in color and slightly crisp. Keep the flame at low to medium while you fry these kimchi pancakes. Also, make sure to use a non-thick pan to avoid sticking at the bottom.

Spread the batter nicely in the shape of a pan cake in the center of the frying pan.

Let it cook in low to medium flame for few miniutes on each sides so that they cooked nicely and turns slightly crisp and golden brown in color.

Gently try to move it from the sides to check how much its cooked.

Turn to the other sides once cooked nicely at the bottom side and easily moves and leaves the pan. It should turn nicely golden brown in color.

Drizzel some mustard oil to the sides of the pan so that it cooks well on the other side as well.

One you see it is cooked well on both sides for few minutes take it out from the frying pan.

Enjoy hot.

Inside of the pancake is slightly crisp and tastes spicy and delicious.
