Tips for baking any Cookies:

  • If you are a first-time baker make sure to measure the ingredients right. This means make sure to choose the right size egg and measure the flour correctly.
  • If your recipe requires softened butter this means it has to be room temperature and not too soft. Room temperature butter allows small pockets of air to get trapped when creaming it with sugar. This leavens the cookies and makes them fluffy — but if you use butter that’s too soft, it can do the opposite and actually prevent air from getting trapped. The ideal softness level is when you’re able to press your finger into the butter without any resistance.
  • Cream your butter and sugar nicely and looks frothy.
  • Bring the eggs to room temperature before mixing up with the flour.
  • Adding salt into the cookies enhances the taste. Kosher salt is a great salt for baking with. The small crystals dissolve easily and evenly season the dough.
  • For some cookies chilling the dough helps them to take proper shape.
  • Using a baking sheet helps the cookies not to stick and easily comes out from the baking tray.
  • If your cookies are not spreading properly during baking then take out the tray in between and tap it a few times and see the results.
  • In order to achieve a chewy consistency of your cookies try not to over bake them. Set your oven timer 5 minutes earlier than the standard bake time. Means one way to make sure they always turn out perfectly baked is to set your timer a few minutes less than the recipe states. When you press in the center of the cookies it should feel soft but should not be raw. This is especially for chewy chocolate chip cookies.
