Taste and texture:

It is slightly spicy 🌶 but you may choose to add more or fewer spices as per your taste. Texture-wise it is soft juicy and yummy.

Ingredients used:

  • Turkey breast – baked and shredded 2 and a 1/2 cups
  • Whole cumin seeds 1 tbsp
  • Onions – Chopped 1/2 cup
  • Ginger paste 1 tsp
  • Garlic paste 1 tsp
  • Tomatoes – Chopped 1/2 cup
  • Garam masala powder – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin powder 1 tbs
  • Coriander powder 1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice 2 tbsp
  • Finely chopped green chilies as per taste

Preparation for spicy turkey:

For this preparation, I have used the whole turkey baked at 350 F for about 2 to 2 and 1/2 hours. This I prepared during thanksgiving. After baking the big whole turkey I have many more left to be eaten later, so I thought to prepare it little differently so what I basically did is, I shredded the meat of the turkey breast and then chopped them into small pieces. Since they were baked and cooked it is very easy to do so.

For preparing the spices I chopped the onions into small pieces and saute them in 3 tbsp of oil. So first, heat the oil and add some whole cumin seeds and let them splutter. Then add ginger and garlic paste into it and the chopped onions. Stir fry them till golden brown. Add 1 tbsp of cumin powder, one tbsp of coriander powder and 1 tbsp of garam masala powder and salt as per taste. Stir them for a few seconds. Then add chopped tomatoes 1/2 cup. Keep stirring for a while or until you see the tomatoes have softened enough and the spices are cooked. Into this add shredded Turkey breast pieces and mix. Also, squeeze out 2tbsp of lemon juice and open-stir and cook for a few minutes. Then cover and cook for a minute as well. If you think the spices are too dry then add a few drops of water and cook.

Serving tips:

This preparation can be served in many ways. Eat this with hot steamed rice or sandwiches Or try this with some salads, or stuff it in your favorite burgers. This tastes awesome.
