Green chili sauce recipe simply made at home and stored, Used for preparing noodles, chows, fried rice, or even used for marinating chicken, fish, or anything you can use this with. You may also enjoy this as a chutney sauce with fritters, samosas, dumplings, and more.

The texture of green chili sauce is smooth and very quickly prepared at home. The recipe that I am sharing is the easiest and quickest I guess and it really adds up something extra when added into any recipe. The most amazing thing is that it could be prepared and stored in a bottle for a month or more.

Short Summary

Thoroughly wash green chilis under running water using a strainer. Remove and discard the backside stem from the chilies. Then transfer these into a saucepan with some water to boil. Let these boil and simmer for about 15-20 minutes along with a pinch of salt. Once done boiling these, allow to cool completely before grinding. Grind these using some water that has been boiled. Use water as required to adjust the consistency of choice that you can use to prepare other recipes or enjoy as a sauce for snaking. Once done with grinding these add some white vinegar and give these a quick grind again or simply stir to mix. Transfer in a jar or a sauce bottle to store and refrigerate for a long period of time. Use within 3 to 4 weeks.

Ingredients required to prepre Green chili sauce recipe at home.

  • Green chili’s washed and cleaned 1 pound
  • Water to boil as required
  • Salt (optional)
  • White vinegar 1 tablespoon of lime juice.

Directions to prepare

Wash these green chilis thoroughly under running water using a strainer to remove any dirt from them.

While you wash these discard the black stems from the chilis.

Transfer into a saucepan and add water to it to boil along with a pinch of salt but this is also optional.

Let these boil for 15 to 20 minutes.

Allow these to cool completely before grinding

Grind to prepare a smooth saucy texture that you would like to use in any of your recipes. It’s just that simple.

Lastly, add a tablespoon of white vinegar. In case you don’t have white vinegar squeeze some lime juice. Some sort of citric acid works as preservatives.

Once done, store in a jar or a bottle to keep it refrigerated.

Other ways to prepare green chili sauce

Green chili, onions, garlic and cilantro mix sauce ~ You may also add garlic to this plain green chili sauce. or a combonarion of garlic onion and cilantro mix. These combinations gives a different flavour that you will love as well if you try. Simply saute onions and garlic in some oil then combine and grind these to prepare sauce.

Jalapano and green chili sauce ~ Also, you may prepare the jalapano and green chili combination. Variations are many actually. Depends more on for what purpose you need this green chili sauce.

Green chili with tomato sauce ~ In this combination use green chilis and tomatos. Saute green chilis and tomatoes in some oil. Cover and cook in some water. Completely cool and then grind these along with some salt and lime juice in it. It’s that simple.

Spices ~ In spices you may add more salt to it if you like, along with black pepper corns.
