An Easy and tasty cabbage stir-fried with shrimp and potato platter is a one-skillet recipe infused with aromatic spices that makes it special. Heat up a wok or a skillet with sufficient oil to stir fry some thinly sliced onions and small chopped shrimps. Stir-fry these with some spices, ginger and garlic paste, and some half-boiled diced potatoes at the end and continue to cook until done. Serve these hot with steamed rice or bread of choice or enjoy as a starter menu.

Ingredients required to prepare cabbage stir-fried with shrimp and potato platter.

  • Cabbage sliced and then finely chopped 4 cups
  • Shrimps (large) 30-35 chopped into small pieces
  • Oil 1/4 cup
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Bay leaves 2
  • Green cardamom 2
  • Onion one large sliced thin
  • Dry-red chili ground 1 teaspoon
  • Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  • Cumin Powder 1 teaspoon
  • Coriandre powder 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt 1 and 1/2 teaspoons or as per taste
  • Turmeric powder 1 teaspoon
  • Diced potatoes 90 percent boiled
  • At the end sprinkle 1/2 a teaspoon of garam masala powder and
  • 1/2 a teaspoon of chaat masala powder

Wash the cabbage thoroughly under running water. Shread thin and chop further. We need 4 full cups of chopped cabbage for this recipe. Clean and wash 30 to 35 large shrimps nicely and pat dry with a kitchen towel. Cut and chop them into smaller pieces. Into a skillet or wok heat up 1/4 cup of oil. Add cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon, bay leaves 2, Green cardamom 2 into it, and saute. Then add 1 large thinly sliced onions, dry-red chili powder 1 teaspoon, and stir-fry until translucent.

Next, add ginger paste 1 teaspoon, garlic paste 1 teaspoon, Cumin powder 1 teaspoon, coriander powder 1 teaspoon. Add garam masala 1 teaspoon and mix. Add chopped shrimps into it and mix. Frequently stir and cook the shrimp few minutes. While these are being cooked they release water. As soon as the water is reduced add 1 teaspoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder into it and mix. Continue to cook few minutes or until the shrimps are at least 1/2 way cooked.

Then add chopped cabbage 4 cups into it and mix. Continue to stir and cook until the cabbage is translucent. Add 1 cup diced potatoes 90 percent cooked, Sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of garam masala powder, 1/2 teaspoon of chaat masala powder, and some more salt as required and mix. Continue to stir-fry until the potatoes are cooked well and the mixture looks perfect. Serve these with steamed rice or bread of choice or enjoy as a starter recipe.
