Cheesy and delicious Mac and cheese recipe in a green sauce. This sounds so different, right? I know. The first time when I thought of trying this I was kind of shaky, not confident enough. But I might never know it until I tried it I must say. Thankfully I tried this way preparing it, and turned out great! Something super tasty in a green delicious sauce which cheesy creamy and tasty flavor and texture. Yessssss! this is Mac and cheese with a twist 😉

Ingredients required to prepare Mac and Cheese in Green Sauce
Macaroni 1 pack that is 7.25 OZ (206 g) with a pack of dried cheddar cheese inside. In cups, 3 cups of boiled macaronis.
- Onion 1 large size onion chopped I.e 1 cup
- Tomato 1 medium roughly chopped
- Garlic clove 4
- Bell pepper one medium sliced
- Spinach purée 2 cups
- Water as required to grind the spices and spinach purée
- Water used to prepare the curry 1/2 cup
- Salt as per taste
- Cumin seeds powder 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon
- Red chili 🌶 powder 1 teaspoon ( optional )
- Dried cheddar cheese 1/3 cup that’s comes along with the Kraft Mac and cheese pack 🙂
Total Cook Time
- Preparing the Spices and sauce 30 minutes
- Mixing and boiling the Macaroni’s side by side 15 minutes
- Total Cook Time: 45 minutes approximately
Directions to prepare Mac and Cheese in Green Sauce
To prepare the Green sauce we need some fresh spinach, onions, garlic cloves, one medium tomato, some cheddar cheese, and Macaronies. First to prepare the sauce simply sauté some onions chopped and garlic cloves for few seconds or until these turn golden brown in color, Then add red chili powder, some salt, cumin seeds powder, and coriander powder. Fry all these few minutes in some oil. Then add one small green bell pepper and chopped tomatoes. Cook until the tomatoes soften. Once cooked allow it to cool. Then transfer the mixture into a grinding jar and prepare a paste out of it. Keep this aside.
The second step is to grab some fresh spinach and grind them using some water to make a smooth paste out of it and keep it aside.
Mixing up the sauce: Heat some butter into the pan and add the prepared sauce into it, then gently stir and cook for about a minute. Add the spinach puree into it that we prepared and mix. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes and the green sauce is ready.
While we are preparing the sauce, side by side we need to cook the macaroni’s as well. Cook the macaronies in sufficient water along with some salt in it. Once macaronies are cooked strain them and immediately pour them into the sauce that we prepared.
Step by step directions to prepare Mac and Cheese in Green Sauce
Heat 2 tablespoons of oil into a frying pan and add 4 cloves of garlic 🧄 into it.
Add onions 🧅 chopped 1 cup. Or 2 medium onions chopped
Stir and fry onions and the garlic until turns golden in color and looks fried.
Add cumin seeds powder 1 teaspoon
Coriander powder 1/2 teaspoon
Red chili 🌶 powder 1 teaspoon or as required
Sauté all the spices few seconds.
Add bell pepper 🫑 1 medium sized, cut into strips
Sprinkle Salt as required
Tomato 🍅 1 medium size roughly chopped
Stir and cook these for about a minute or until softened
Allow the mixture to cool sometime and then Transfer them into a grinding jar to prepare a paste out of it.
Grab some spinach. Wash and clean and transfer into a grinding jar. Add around 3 tablespoons of water or as required to make a paste out of it.
Once the paste is ready keep aside for later use.
Cooking the macaronis
Side by side prepares the macaronis by boiling sufficient water into a container. You may also add a pinch of salt into the water because this way the macaronis will soak some saltiness inside and would taste great.
Pour a pack of Mac and cheese into the boiling water i.e 7.25 OZ (206g) or in cups, it is 3 cups of macaronis, and cook until done.
Stir in between while these are boiling because to avoid sticking.
Preparing the green sauce
Into a pan add 1 tablespoon of butter and warm it up.
Spread the butter nicely into the pan.
Pour the spice mixture into the pan and make sure the flame at low
Stir the mixture gently
Then add the spinach purée 2 cups.
Immediately add 1/2 cup of water
Mix nicely and cook for a minute
Green sauce is ready, so quick and easy.
Mixing up the Macaronis with the green sauce
Once the macaronis are cooked drain out the excess water immediately and transfer these into the sauce.
Give it a mix
Add cheddar cheese 1/3 cup
Mix and cook 2 minutes
Cheesy and tasty Mac and cheese 🧀 are ready to be enjoyed.
