Semolina mango cake is so easy to prepare. Very common ingredients used to prepare this cake. We need just ripe and sweet large mangoes 🥭 Granulated sugar, milk, some powder milk, clarified butter, baking powder, lime juice, a pinch of salt, and Semolina.

I prepared this simply by mixing up all these ingredients into a large bowl and cooked in a container that works great for this recipe. Do watch the full video on how to bake this cake without an oven, details given below. This cake is soft and fluffy inside. Perfect for kids and toddlers. Oil could be used too in place of clarified butter. But if using oil do add some fruit or mango essence if you have because this gives the cake a beautiful aroma that feels goods:)

Ingredients required to prepare Semolina Mango Cake

  • Mango 🥭 2 ripe big size or Mango Pulp puree 1 cup + 1/4 cup
  • Clarified butter 1/4 cup
  • Sugar 1/4 cup + 3 tablespoons
  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon + 1/4 teaspoon
  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Milk 5 teaspoons
  • Milk powder 4 teaspoons
  • Lime juice 3 teaspoons
  • Pinch of salt

Total Cook Time:

  • Pre-preparations 10 minutes
  • Time to mix the ingredients 10 minutes
  • Time to cook without oven 40 to 45 minutes
  • Total time Consumed: 1 hour and 10 minutes approx

Directions to prepare

Clean and wash two ripe mangoes 🥭 big size. Slice and cut out the soft juicy pulp from the mangoes.

Into a grinding jar add these mango pulps along with 1/4 cup of clarified butter and grind them to prepare a paste out of it. Transfer the mixture into a mixing bowl. Then add granulated sugar, a pinch of salt, baking powder, and milk into it. Mix these nicely. Then gradually add semolina and mix. Finally, add milk powder and lemon juice and give it a mix. The consistency is a thicker side, not a smooth flow. Make sure to watch the full video to understand better. Hope that will help. Also as a note, you may also add vegetable or canola oil into it in place of clarified butter. The difference is the smell that I prefer more by adding clarified butter 🧈

Also if you are looking for more aromatic fruit flavor into your cake then add a few drops of fruit essence or mango essence into it. I just tried to explain how you can prepare a simple semolina mango cake using the least ingredients that are commonly used in every home.

One more thing I would like to mention that you may grind the mango pulp first into a fine paste I.e 1 and 1/4 cup and then add the 1/4 cup of clarified butter into it and mix. This way you can keep the exact right measurement that I have done to prepare this cake and it turned out really yummy I must say. But also I was surely missing my mango essence which was temporarily out of stock at that moment :$

Preparing the cake tin

Once the cake batter is ready. Pour into the cake tin. To prepare the cake tin the simplest way without using any parchment paper you can simply brush up the cake tin with oil or clarified butter. Then add some all-purpose flour into it and by moving the cake tin into a circular motion you may spread the flour all over to the base and onto the sides of the cake tin as shown in the images below.

Pour the cake batter into the cake tin and cook in a large container on top of gas. Place the cake tin by covering it tightly and putting it onto a stand inside a heated container and cover with a lid as shown in the images below. Cook in medium flame for about 40 to 45 minutes. When you see the sides turned dark brown in color it means it’s thoroughly cooked inside. Turn off the flame and allow it to cool completely by keeping the lid off.

Preparing the Cake Tin

To prepare a cake tin we need a few drops of oil or use clarified butter

Brush up the oil or butter evenly all over the cake tin.

Add some flour around 2 tablespoons

Move the cake tin in a circular motion to let the flour stick all over the cake tin including the base and to the sides as you see in the image below. This way it helps stick the flour nicely and evenly all over because later this step makes it so easier to take out the cake from the cake tin without much effort when you are not using any parchment paper or say a baking sheet. This step helps a lot for easy demolding.

Turn and lightly tap to remove any extra flour from the cake tin

As you see the light flour coating all over the cake tin. It is now ready and you are all set to pour the cake batter into it.

Pouring the Cake batter into the cake tin

Pour the batter into the prepared cake tin

Watch the consistency of the batter. It’s not a easy flow it’s thick consistency batter.

Use a spoon or a spatula to level up the top

Tap few times to release any air bubbles trapped inside.

Preparing to cook the cake without oven

Use a large size container to cook this cake without oven baking.

Place a stand using anything that you have which is heat proof material and is safe to use.

Cover the container with a lid and start to heat in medium flame.

Putting the cake tin inside the heated container on top of a stand

Once the container is heated put the cake tin inside carefully:) as it is hot to touch. So be careful while you put it inside or you may use a holder to put it inside on top of a stand.

This clear view shows you the that the it’s right in the center of the container on mounted on top of a stand.

Cover the cake tin with a dish or a lid that is preferably tight.

Cover the large container with a lid and let it cook in medium flame initially. Later reduce the flame a little bit so that it doesn’t get hurt to to excessive heat that forms inside.

Cover and cook 35 to 40 minutes. Open and check after cooking this long. If you see that the sides are getting darker in color and the cake all over looks stiff and firm. Then it’s perfect to turn off the flame. As you see in the images below you will get a clear view how it exactly looks like when done.

If you look on the circular sides of the cake it gets dark brown in color and the center looks firm. You may also insert a stick to check if it’s completely cooked inside or not.

Allow to completely cool by keeping it open without cover.

Scrape from the sides

Turn and tap to release the cake from the cake tin

Cut it into pieces and no doubt you can enjoy this yummy cake any time during the day after a meal as a dessert 🍨 as well.
