Cheese potato cutlets

This is a potato and cheese cutlet recipe with the goodness of oats and mild spices. A healthy and tasty recipe.

This recipe includes potato, Cheddar cheese, and mozzarella cheese, oats, and some mild spices. It tastes really good. Could be eaten plain or along with burger or sandwiches Perfect starter for any time. Mild spicy. Kids-friendly dish.

Potato and Cheese Cutlet Ingredients:

  • 4 medium-sized boiled potatoes
  • 1 cup of cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup of mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 tsp of salt or as per taste
  • 1/4 tsp of sugar
  • 1 tbs of all-purpose seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp of pepper powder
  • 2 whole eggs
  • 1 cup of bread crumbs or as required

Below is the picture of the seasoning and the bread crumbs that I have used for this recipe.

Procedure to make :

  1. Wash peel and cut the potatoes into small pieces.
  2. Boil the potatoes
  3. Transfer the potatoes into another bowl to mix it with spices. Mash them a little.
  4. Into it add 1 cup of oats, 1/2 tsp of salt, 1/4 tsp of sugar, 1 tsp of all-purpose seasoning, 1 tsp of black pepper powder.
  5. Mix them all nicely until smooth and soft.
  6. Make round and somewhat flat-shaped cutlets for easy frying.

         Note: Flat-shaped pieces help frying in less oil.

This mixture gave me around 14 medium-sized cutlets.

7. Into a small bowl take two whole eggs and add a pinch of salt to this and beat them.

8. Take 1 cup of bread crumbs or as required.

9. Dip every single piece of cutlets into the eggs and then roll them over the breadcrumbs for a nice coating. Make sure you do every single piece separately. Once done with coating let them rest for 10 mins.

10. Into a frying pan add oil to fry. I used around 3 tbs of refined oil to fry them.

Important things to keep in mind while frying:

Note: Usage of the oil depends on the size of the pan. So please make sure you use the right amount to fry them. It is surely not a deep-frying process. It is shallow fried.

Tip: heat the oil in the high flame then reduce the flame to low and after like few seconds drop the cutlets into the oil. This would help the cutlets not to get burned. Also, flip them 2 to 3 times within few seconds.

While frying I pressed them a little with the help of a spatula on both sides to flatten them more. This step is important for shallow frying.

When the color changes to golden brown take them out and they are ready to be served.

Serving tips for Potato and Cheese cutlets:

Serve this hot. These could be eaten plain or with any sweet or hot sauce. Or you may enjoy putting them in between the burgers or sandwiches. It simply tastes awesome and kids friendly dish as well.
