These slightly crispy and delicious fish fillets could be prepared using any other boneless fish of choice well also, these could be easily shallow fried or Tawa fried. It might consume a little extra time but it could be done so. But deep-frying definitely adds up crispiness to the fish that might not be achieved by Tawa frying in less oil but the flavor will not change.
Marination could be done using little less or little more spices as per choices but it is important to make sure that the fish fillets are patted dried well before you marinate them. I have used mustard oil for marination because this gives a pungent smell to the recipe which brings out a strong flavor.
Ingredients that we need to prepare Instant Fish Fries are as follows:
- Tilapia Fish Fillets: 6 or 7 (Washed and cleaned, Patted dried, and cut into pieces)
- Coriander leaves : 3 tablespoons
- Mustard oil 1/2 teaspoon
- Regular Oil for deep frying
Spices:
- Garlic paste: 1 teaspoon
- Ginger paste: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt as per taste
- Sugar 1/2 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 teaspoon
- Garam Masala Powder 1/2 teaspoon
- Red Chili powder 1 teaspoon
Total Cook Time:
30 minutes to 40 minutes approx.
Directions to prepare Instant Fish Fries
For this recipe, I am using Tilapia fillets 6 in number. Clean and washed. Pat dry the fish fillets nicely using a kitchen towel or a clean cloth to keep them dry before marination. Cut the fish fillets according to preferences. Then transfer into a clean dry bowl.
Add 1 teaspoon of garlic paste, 1/2 teaspoon of ginger paste, some salt to taste, red chili powder 1 teaspoon, turmeric powder 1/4 teaspoon, coriander leaves 3 tablespoons, mustard oil 1/2 teaspoon, garam masala powder 1/2 teaspoon, sugar 1/2 teaspoon and mix nicely using hands. Rub the spices well with the fishes and let it stay 10 minutes.
After 10 minutes heat oil into a deep frying pan or karahi. When the oil is medium heated. Put fishes into batches and deep fry them until turns golden brown in color. Make sure to fry both sides of the fish fillets equally. Frying does not take much time. Frying in batches might consume a little extra time but on the other hand, less oil used by frying this way.
Serving tips:
Serve these with hot sauce or green chutney along with some red onions and lemons and enjoy. Great for a starter menu anytime. Perfect snack/appetizer. Quick and easy fish fries.
