Directions to prepare French Fries. Homemade

Wash clean and peel 3 medium-sized potatoes. For this recipe, I have used russet potatoes as these are perfect for preparing fries.

Since these have high starch content and have a perfect fluffy texture these are considered great to prepare crispy fries whereas there are many more varieties of potatoes of the same category that could be used as well.

Cut them into strips. Wash and rinse it again in cold water. Pat dry the potatoes using a kitchen towel.
Spread on a baking tray and bake these in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 to 30 minutes.
Note: These should be cooked completely. You should feel the rawness when you break one strip of the potato. Make sure to understand the exact baking time with your potatoes because it might be a little different depending on the thickness of the potatoes sliced and the quality of the potatoes as well.

Once done baking allow it to cool for 10 minutes. Brush with some clarified butter or any oil of your choice. Then add 2 tablespoons of cornstarch and mix. Rub cornstarch well with the potatoes using hands.

Transfer these in a ziplock bag or any container and freeze a minimum of 30 to 40 minutes.

Heat sufficient oil into a pan and fry in small batches. Fry these in medium-high heat. Do not add too many together.

Fry till golden brown in color. These get fried very quickly within less than a minute.

Sprinkle some salt, dry-roasted cumin powder, paprika, and parsley on top to add in some spicy flavor and enjoy.

Total cook time:

  • Pre-preparations: 10 minutes (includes Cutting and cleaning)

  • Cooling time: 10 minutes
  • Freezing time 40 minutes minimum
