This is made with roughly chopped cabbage mixed with chickpea flour batter along with some spices. A complete vegetarian recipe. These are being cooked on low flame until turns lightly crisp and golden brown in color on the top. A very easy and tasty recipe. Ingredients required to prepare cabbage pancake with chickpea flour

  • Chickpea flour 1 cup
  • Baking powder 1 teaspoon
  • Salt 1 teaspoon or as per taste
  • Black pepper powder 1 teaspoon
  • Water 1 cup
  • 2 cups of roughly chopped cabbage πŸ₯¬
  • 3/4 cup of thinly sliced onions πŸ§…
  • Green chili chopped 1
  • Coriander leaves chopped 5 tablespoons
  • Squeeze out some lemon juice
  • Oil to 2 to 3 tablespoons or as required to shallow frying

Directions to prepare cabbage pancake with chickpea flour

Into a bowl take 1 cup of chickpea flour, add 1 teaspoon of baking powder, 1 teaspoon of salt or add salt as required. Black pepper crushed 1 teaspoon and mix these dry ingredients nicely.

Into the dry ingredients add 1 cup of water and prepare a lump-free thin batter. Lightly beat the batter for about 2 minutes preferably using a hand beater. Once done add 3/4 cup of thinly sliced onions, 1 cup of chopped cabbage, 1 chopped green chili, 5 tablespoons of chopped coriander leaves, and squeeze out some lemon juice into it, and then mix to combine well.

Leave the batter for 5 minutes. Heat up the frying pan and pour 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil for shallow frying these cabbage pancakes.

Once the oil is heated nicely lower the flame and pour 3 to 4 scoops of the batter into the frying pan🍳 Keeping the flame at low, fry these until turns golden brown in color. Flip and turn to the other side. Drip in some more oil to fry the other side as well. Cook it well on both sides for around 5 to 6 minutes. Slowly the texture changes and it seems to be no more sticky to the pan and is easy to move. Cooking longer in low flame helps the pancake to perfectly cook inside and leaves the outside slightly crisp and golden brown in color.

Into a large bowl mix all the dry ingredients well, like chickpea flour 1 cup, salt 1 teaspoon or as per taste, baking powder 1 teaspoon, black peppers crushed 1 teaspoon and mix well.

Mixing the dry ingredients:

Chickpea flour 1 cup

Baking powder 1 teaspoon

Crushed black pepper 1 teaspoon

Salt 1 teaspoon or as required

Mix the dry ingredients nicely

Mixing the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients

Into the dry ingredients then add 1 cup of water

Green chili chopped 1 and Coriander leaves chopped 5 tablespoons

3/4 of thinly sliced onions

Roughly chopped cabbage πŸ₯¬ 2 cups

Squeeze out some Lemon juice

Mix all to combine well.

Leave the mixture like that for 2 minutes

Frying the Cabbage Pancakes

Heat a frying pan 🍳 by adding 2 to 3 tablespoons of oil.

Once the oil is heated lower the flame πŸ”₯ and Pour 4 to 5 scoops of batter into the frying pan and spread using spoon or a spatula

Let it cook for 5 to 6 minutes in low flame until turns golden brown in color. Initially it sticks to the pan but when slowly continues to cook in low FKAME the moisture starts to dry up and it no more sticks to the pan.

Flip and turn to the other side. And add some more oil to the other side after flipping it around.

Once both side turns golden brown in color and light crisp it’s ready to serve and enjoy.
