One day I was thinking a lot what to cook for my breakfast with the leftover veggies that I have at home. Also the recipe that could be real quick to prepare and tasty and healthy too ☺️ and this ideas 💡 clicked on my mind. Thankfully I tried this and was not disappointed at all. In fact this is now very common in my breakfast menu which I often enjoy along with everyone else in the family. Just follow super simple and easy steps to to prepare the exactly like shown in the images shown in the step by step directions below 🙂
Ingredients required to prepare Cabbage pancakes are as follows:
- Shredded cabbage, thinly sliced and then further chopped 5 cups
- Eggs 2 large size
- All-purpose Flour 1 cup
- Onion 1 chopped 1 cup
- Corriander leaves 1/2 cup
- Water 1/2 cup or as required
- Salt 1 and a 1/2 teaspoon or as per taste
- Pepper powder 2 teaspoons or as per taste
- Green chili or red chili powder 2 teaspoons or as per taste.
Directions to prepare Cabbage Pancake
Washing and cleaning and cutting of the cabbage 🥬
Wash the whole cabbage thoroughly under running water. Then cut it into two halves as convenient or just slice and rough chop them. Then give it a quick wash again under warm water 💧 before cooking. For this recipe we need 5 cups of cabbage 🥬 chopped or thinly sliced.
Other ingredients
Wash and clean the onion 🧅 1 whole large size and thinly slice them. We need 1 and 1/2 cups of thinly sliced onions for this recipe
Coriander leaves along with thin stems washed and clean and preferably chopped
All-purpose flour 1 cup, some salt , black pepper, green chili powder or red chili powder, 2 large sized eggs 🥚, and 1/2 cup of water or as required to mix up all the ingredients nicer.
Mixing up the ingredients
Into a large bowl crack two large eggs, add some salt in it, sprinkle some black pepper powder, green chilli flakes or powder or red chili powder, All-purpose flour and water. Give it a mix. Then add the cabbage 🥬, onions 🧅, coriander. Mix and mash thoroughly using hands 🙌. Set aside for 10 minutes and then use the batter for cooking the pancakes.
Frying:
Heat a frying pan 🍳. Spray some oil. Let the oil warm up a little bit. Do not overheat the pan or else the pancake batter will burn as soon as you pour the batter into the oil and not good.
Once the oil is warm pour out the batter slowly using a big spoon. Pour all over the pan in a round shape and the preferred size you want your pancake to be. The thickness should be medium because it should cook nicely inside and retain crispy and crunchiness because of its perfect thickness. Cook both the sides in a steady low flame for 2 to 3 minutes until golden brown in color.

Pre-preparations like washing cutting and chopping the veggies 15 minutes

Resting time 10 minutes
Shallow frying in low flame 35 minutes approximately
Serves: This mixture gave me around 6 cabbage pancakes medium sized
Total time consumed to prepare 1 hour and 10 minutes
Step by step directions to prepare cabbage Pancake
Clean the out side of the whole cabbage 🥬 nicely under running water
Cut it into 2 halves
Shred and slice them thin
Further chop them
Give these a quick wash in warm water
Keep aside after washing so that the excess water drains out.
Take one large big onion 🧅 peel and wash before cutting
Thinly slice the onions 🧅
Into a large bowl break two large eggs
Sprinkle some salt as required
Add 2 teaspoons of crushed black pepper powder
Use some green chili flakes or red chill powder as required
Add All-purpose flour 1 cup
Water 1/2 cup or as required
Mix the ingredients
After mixing the texture looks like this, as shown in the image
Add the chopped cabbage 🥬 5 cups
Add onions 🧅 thinly sliced 1 and 1/2 cups
Coriander leaves along with the thin stems, washed and cleaned 1/2 cup
Mix nicely using hands 🙌
Leave the mixture for 10 minutes once mixed
Heat a frying pan 🍳 and spray some oil to shallow fry
Once the oil is slightly warm pot the batter all over the pan
Keeping the flame at low cook thoroughly until easy to move with the spatula
Slightly press all over to even up the batter all around
Cook minimum of 2 minutes in slow steady flame on each sides until golden brown in color and looks completely cooked
The color changes to golden brown and the pancakes are easy to move or to flip
Take them out immediately once done and enjoy 😊
Goes great with tomato 🍅 ketchup. You may try any sauce of choice.
