This is an Indian cheese curry recipe known as butter paneer made with fenugreek leaves, fresh cream, butter, and few common ingredients. Simply homemade. This amazing curry/gravy is non-spicy, with no food color used. kids friendly dish.

Texture: The texture of this curry is Creamy.

Note: This is no onion no garlic recipe. Only a few spices used to make this yummy curry. Many people don’t eat onions and garlic. So here is the recipe for them. You may add onion garlic and ginger to the same recipe as well.

Preparation:

In this preparation, I wanted to show how quickly and easily you can make this yummy curry/gravy within no time, with the least ingredients used and also without compromising any taste and flavor. Check it out.

Pre-preparations:

Take 5 – 6 medium-sized tomatoes and grind them into a paste form or you can use 3 cups of tomato purée.

Soak some cashews for 10 to 15 minutes so that it makes around 1/4 cup of cashew paste when you grind them.

Cut the paneer i.e the Indian cheese into small /medium cube-shaped pieces.

Spices:

Spices as shown in the picture below: Make sure to grind all the whole spices that you are going to use. Fenugreek leaves is one of the main ingredient that cannot be missed.

Fenugreek leaves or Kasuri methi
  • 1/4 cup of fenugreek leaves i.e Kasuri methi
  • 7 cardamom
  • 7 cloves
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1/2 inch of cinnamon stick or 1 tbs of cinnamon powder
  • 20 black pepper
  • 1 tbs of whole/powdered coriander seeds
  • 1 tbs of whole/powdered cumin seeds
  • 1/4 cup of Kasuri methi ( i.e dried fenugreek leaves)
  • Take all the whole spices along with fenugreek leaves/ Kasuri methi mentioned above and grind them into powdered form.

Steps for preparing the gravy/ curry

Firstly:

  • Into a pan add 2 tbs of oil and when it is slightly warm add all the spices and stir immediately so that it doesn’t get burnt.
  • Add a few cashews and raisins and sauté them along with the spices. Make sure to keep the flame low.
  • Add tomato puree and stir
  • 1 tbs of salt
  • Add 4 tbs of butter and let it cook for a minute.
  • Add 1 tbs of brown sugar and stir
  • Stir and let it cook for few minutes in low to medium flame, Stir in between.
  • Add 1/4 cup of cashew paste and mix nicely.

Secondly:

  • Keep the flame low and let it cook for 1/2 a minute or so. When you see bubbles and the gravy looks thick.
  • Add 1/4 cup of water and add the paneer or Indian cheese pieces into it. And mix nicely.
  • Cover and cook for s minute.
  • After a minute or so open the lid and stir.
  • Add 1 cup of fresh cream and mix.
  • Cover and cook on low flame for 5 – 7 minutes.
  • With the help of your hand crush some fenugreek leaves / Kasuri methi and sprinkle over the curry and give it a mix.
  • Serve hot by some more sprinkles of fenugreek leaves. Looks good for garnishing.

Finally:

  • So here is your yummy curry ready to serve with Indian bread, Nan or pita bread. You may also enjoy this with fried rice, steamed rice or regular rice. Or you may enjoy this plain as well. Kids friendly dish.
  • No chili powder used no food color used.
  • Add paneer
  • Stir and cook few minutes
  • Add 1/4 cup of cashew paste and let it cook for few minutes in low flame.
  • When you see the gravy thickened add 1 cup of fresh cream and give it a stir.
  • Add paneer/cheese pieces and mix
  • Cover and cook for 5-7 minutes in low flame.
  • When you see bubbles in the curry open the lid and stir nicely.
  • Crush some fenugreek leaves with the help of your hand and sprinkle over the curry and mix.
  • Your yummy curry is ready to serve hot.
  • Make sure to sprinkle little fenugreek leaves for garnishing as well, it looks really good.
  • Serve this curry with bread, Nan, Indian paratha, pita bread or steamed rice, or fried rice. Even this could be enjoyed plain as well.
